Where to start. This post is being made about 3 years after creating this website. I just gotten the domain and I think it's time to get consistent with this. Why not start where everything started to come together?

If you read "The Beginnings: How I Got Into Social Media Marketing" this story follows it about two years after that season at Elena. Chris and I ended up going to St. Croix Central High, home to the Mighty Caribs! During our freshman year, Chris brought up the idea of taking what we did at Elena to Central. At first, I thought it was a bad idea, since we were freshmen and didn't have much pull at that time. But on a cold August 26th, 2015. I sat down at that same home computer that made the Elena Soccer page and created the Caribs Varsity Soccer Facebook page. I told Chris and the rest of my teammates about it and they were mixed about it, with most of them not fully buying into it, but we kept with it during the beginning of that school year. It started off with our pre-season intersquad, lunchtime game, then after it was the time for the season. When we were creating the content one of our two co-head coaches wasn't too keen on us doing this. The coach was more of a keep-to-himself kind of guy, focusing only on what's right in front of him, so there were no in practice content.

Compared to Elena we now had smartphones. So no more computers, Coolpix cameras and hotspots. All those items could now be found in the best iPhone at the time. I remember working on the final score posts (not graphics) on Facebook. I would do them directly after the game while still talking off my gear. I would just put the final score, who scored, a pep talk, and information about our next match. In my opinion at that time it was a hit! Not much people knew what was happening and enjoyed that there was content about youth sports happening on island. From this experience, it continued the spark I had about sports marketing. After I graduated in 2018, I took a step back from handling social media pages until my internship at La Roche. The Caribs Varsity Soccer page is still active today! I am currently the page manager, hoping to hand it over to another student who shares the same interest as I did.

If you want to check it out, here's the link to the page. Give it a like while you're there too!
